Styx is a lacrosse club with teams for girls and boys in grades 1st to 8th. We have both developmental and advanced teams open to new and returning players. No previous lacrosse experience is necessary. Styx is open to both OFallon residents and non-r
Four Reasons you should play with Styx Lacrosse this Sping:
1. Our primary purpose is to teach children how to play lacrosse. You can't learn the game if you don't play the game. Inexperience will not affect playing time. Your child will not join one of our teams and spend their games on the sideline.
2. We do not think specialization in a single sport is appropriate at the youth level. All of the information about elite athletes supports the idea that multi-sport athletes are better athletes. While we offer year-round opportunities, we expect your children to be doing other things. If that means you miss some practices or are late, that is fine. Just make sure you are communicating with your coach.
3. We do not "cut" players. If we have too many children sign-up for one team, we will figure out a way to have a second team.
4. We still have high expectations. When your child is at practice or a game, we will demand focused effort. We would like your child to make as many practices as possible. We can't teach them if they are not present.
We have openings on our Boys and Girls: 8U (grades 2 and younger), Boys and Girls 10U (Grades 3-4), Boys and Girls 12U (Grades 5-6) and 14U (Grades 7-8 and limited 9). If you are interested and have questions, contact Dave Boots, 618-530-8517. We will take new players after practice starts.
We will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday mornings from 10 am to 12 pm at the Public Safety Fields across the street from the O’Fallon YMCA, beginning 11 March. All games are played on Saturday afternoons (8U, 10U, and 12U) and Sundays (14U) at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex from 30 March through 19 May.
Costs include equipment. Uniform is extra. Returning players: we are using the same uniform as last year.
